List of Craps Bets

Once you start playing craps and get the hang of things, it is easy to find why many players keep coming back for more. You will find many players hooting the shooter along because their bets are for him or her.

There may also be instances when some players will bet against the shooter, especially if it’s an online casino, so there’s no fear of being identified as compared to playing craps in a land based casino. But these two bets are not the only ones you can make when playing the game. A quick look at the layout for craps will show you several areas for different types of bets that can be made during the game.

Line Bets

There are several types of bets under this category. These are pass line, don’t pass, pass odds, don’t pass odds, come and don’t come bets. In craps, pass line bets is the most common bet you will find. Some countries will call it win line.

One wins pass line bets if the come out roll turns out to be a 7 or 11. If the come out roll is anything like 2, 3 and 12, the bet is lost which is also labeled as crapping out. If the value is anything other than those mentioned, a point is established. From this point, a series of rolls will be required until it shows a 7 (the bet is lost in this case) or the point is shown which essentially wins for the player’s bets. Don’t pass bet is the opposite of the pass bet with a few minor differences when a 12 is rolled which leads to draw.

Pass odds

allows bettors to get odds through 1 to 5 times the pass line bet if any number from 4-6 or 8-10 is rolled. This additional bet is won if point is rolled before a 7 which usually pays true odds. Don’t pass odds bets is a similar concept but with rules opposite that of pass odds.

Come bets

are similar to pass line bets with the exception that they are only good once the come out roll is made. The player wins the bets if 7 or 11 is rolled and loses it with 2, 3 or 12.

If it’s any of the numbers considered as point for pass line bets, the come bets is moved to a box which represents that number by a base dealer. Your bet wins if the number is rolled after that but loses with a 7. Don’t come bets have a box on the opposite end of the table from the come bets. Odds and payout is similar to come bets with the rules on numbers rolled going the opposite way.

Proposition Bets

Unlike line bets which can potentially go into a series of rolls before the outcome is determined, proposition bets are single roll bets so players know right away if they won or lost the bet.

If you bet on the right area or number e.g. 2, 3, Yo, 12, etc, the player wins. So if you bet on the 2 and the shooter rolls 2, you win. Anything other than that is a lost bet. Any craps means rolling 2, 3 or 12 wins for the player his or her bet. C & E is a combination of betting on craps and yo. In field, the winning rolls are 2-4 or 9-12. The horn refers to each bet on 2, 3, 11 and 12, at a single time.

Bets with Multiple Rolls

These bets refer to bets which can be won on the first or succeeding bets. You will find them on the layout as hard way, easy way, Big 6, Big 8 and place and buy.

Hard way can help players win his bet in two ways, getting identical values from the dice that would show as 4, 6, 8 or 10 before he get seven out.

Easy way requires the same roll of numbers, but instead of identical values, a corresponding combination would win the bet.

Big 6 and 8

Big 6 and 8 means betting on a 6 or 8 which pays 6:5 ratio, but the risk of losing is high. In place and buy, players do that for 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 (come area) which you have wagered on and hope to see rolled before a 7.

Lay bets are the opposite of place and buy bets where players hope for a 7 instead of any of the point number to be rolled.
